PLG and MyWhoosh partner for 2024 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships

Power League Gaming (PLG) in partnership with MyWhoosh, virtual cycling platform has announced the successful conclusion of the 4th edition of the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships. Held in person for the first time on 26th October at Marina Hall, ADNEC, Abu Dhabi, this landmark edition marked a new milestone for the championships. This dynamic partnership brought the global event to life, further cementing Abu Dhabi’s commitment to the sport of cycling and its continued investment in esports.

The 2024 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships crowned the top e-cyclists, with Mary Kate McCarthy from New Zealand winning the women’s UCI World Champion title and Germany’s Jason Osborne taking the prestigious rainbow jersey. Competing before a live audience of athletes, commentators and the community, and reaching a global audience via a live broadcast, the event radiated energy, positivity and competitive spirit that resonated worldwide. With an impressive 41,000 viewers tuning in on YouTube, the championship achieved remarkable engagement. As the official event and production management partner, PLG ensured an engaging and seamless experience for both competitors and viewers. 

Featuring elite talent from around the globe, the championship brought together 22 males and 20 females of the world’s best male and female e-cyclists, each competing for the prestigious title of World Champion in their respective categories. The tournament unfolded across three rounds, with the first two held virtually and the final showdown taking place live in Abu Dhabi.

PLG managed all facets of production, including broadcast and technical setup, project planning & management, creative design, event production, venue build, audio-visual installations, and staffing, hosting 42 competitors at Marina Hall at ADNEC. This collaboration with MyWhoosh marks another milestone in the fusion of esports and traditional sports, reinforcing the potential of competitive e-cycling in the MENA region and worldwide. 

The 2024 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships highlight the potential of esports to transcend traditional gaming boundaries, inviting cycling and esports enthusiasts to experience the thrill of virtual competition at the highest level, featuring virtual rounds that culminated in a live final where the top competitors competed for the championship title in Abu Dhabi.
