WD’s latest range of external storage solutions for PC or consoles delivers the space to store your vast library of digital games. We take a look at the new WD Black P10 Game Drive, and here are our thoughts about the drive.
Design
The WD Black P10 external drive, as the name implies, features an all-black, gamer-centric chassis that matches any PC or console setup. There is also the WD_BLACK insignia on the top side. The drive features a dimension of 118mm x 88mm x 20.8mm, and the device weighs about 230g, which is light enough to carry it around too.
WD mentions that the drive’s chassis is designed to be durable. The drive comes with a Micro-B based USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface on its right side, and near it is the LED indicator for power and copy or loading operations. The USB-A cable that comes with the drive is also black in color but falls short in length.
The bottom side of the drive also features a similar design as the top side, along with the addition of rubber feet on each corner. This ensures that the drive stays intact on the surface while connected to your PC or game console.
The contents of the box include the WD Black P10 game drive, instruction manual, and cable.
Features
The WD Black P10 is designed to be a portable hard drive for both PC and console gamers. While we can’t expect a lot of write performance on the hard drive, the USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface with transfer rates reaching up to 5Gb/s is enough to load most of your game library with ease. WD mentions that the P10 comes in 4TB and 5TB storage options, and we got the latter model for review.
As far as compatibility goes by, the P10 can be used with Windows 10+ and MacOS 11+ systems, along with consoles such as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. For speed tests, we ran the P10 drive with CrystalDiskMark, and got transfer rates of about an average of 130 MB/s transfer speeds.

The drive features a lightweight and sturdy all-black chassis, along with a design that matches consoles and PC setups.
