SteelSeries offers some of the best high-end gaming accessories on the market. The company had recently unveiled its latest Aerox series ultra-light gaming mouse line-up and we got to try out the premium SteelSeries Aerox 9 wireless gaming mouse.
Design
SteelSeries’s latest Aerox series line-up is designed to offer gamers the comfort and versatility of an ultra-light gaming mouse for complex games, including MOBA and MMO. The Aerox 9 wireless mouse is the flagship model of the series, featuring a right-handed palm design with precision and comfort in mind. The dimensions of the device are 128.8mm in length, 62.8mm in width, and a height of 26.7mm.
The Aerox 9 weighs only just 89g, thanks to its lightweight honeycomb shell design that helps to maintain the strength and durability of the mouse. SteelSeries mentions that the Aerox 9 also packs a lightweight battery that weighs only 6g, along with a circuit board that’s 50% slimmer than other models.
The Aerox 9 wireless mouse features a total of 18 control buttons, 12 of which are located on the left side of the device that can be assigned for quick access and macros. On the front, there are the usual left and right buttons, the clickable scroll wheel, and the curser sensitivity button. The scroll wheel features a tilt-click mechanism where you will be able to push the wheel to the left, or to the right positions for two additional programmable buttons.
The mouse also features its PrismSync Lighting which can be seen through the honeycomb design, on the bottom side, and also on the rear side as an arc-like design. The lighting is designed to provide 3 zones of 16.8 million colors that can easily sync with other SteelSeries products. While the mouse features an open-air honeycomb design, the Aerox 9 comes with the IP54-based AquaBarrier protection that shields the interior circuitry from dust, dirt, oil, and other debris so you don’t need to worry about environmental-based accidental damages.
The mouse also uses IP54 Golden Micro switches with durability that lasts over 80 million clicks. The package of the SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless includes the mouse, USB Type-C dongle, a USB Type-C to USB Type-A microfiber mesh cable, the user manual, and an extension adapter.

For gaming capabilities, SteelSeries has equipped the Aerox 9 with its TrueMove Air Sensor that offers up to 18,000 CPI, 400 IPS, 40G acceleration, and 1-to-1 tracking that gives gamers the absolute control and to easily dominate the game. The device also comes with 100% pure PTFE Glide skates for providing the smoothest swipes and superfast mouse movements during gaming. The mouse is well suited for games such as World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Final Fantasy XIV, DOTA 2, and Lost Ark.
Gamers will easily be able to upgrade the firmware of the Aerox 9, remap the programmable buttons, adjust the CPI, customize the RGB lighting, and more via the SteelSeries Engine application.
