Review: Razer DeathAdder V3 Gaming Mouse

Razer is well-known for manufacturing high-performance gaming accessories for eSports gamers. We got a chance to try the Razer DeathAdder V3 and here are our thoughts about the new gaming mouse.

Razer has designed the DeathAdder V3 to be one of the lightest ergonomic esports mice with an improved user experience. The device weighs only 59g, which is a significant reduction when compared to the V2 model, which weighed 82g. As for its dimensions, the DeathAdder V3 features a length of 128.0mm, a width of 68mm, and a height of 44mm.

The mouse is designed for right-handed users. There are two buttons on the left side for easy access. Razer mentions that the new design comes with no weight or drag issues. While the middle shell features the reflective Razer logo, we were disappointed with the lack of RGB lighting on the device. The bottom part also features 100% PTFE feet, along with the sensor and the HyperShift button to switch different sensitivity profiles. The shape of the left and right click buttons is more sleek when compared to previous models. In total, there are six programmable buttons.

The DeathAdder V3 comes with the Optical Mouse Switches Gen-3 switches that can last up to 90 million clicks. Razer also mentions that the mouse switches offer 0.2ms actuation and claims that the device has no double-clicking issues. The scroll wheel offers a very smooth and silent user experience. For better durability, the mouse comes with an attached Razer SpeedFlex cable, that features minimum drag during mouse movement. I think Razer could have designed it as a USB-C-connected cable rather than an attached model.

For performance, the DeathAdder V3 packs the Razer Focus Pro 30K optical sensor that supports a maximum sensitivity of 30000 DPI. The maximum speed (IPS) is 750, and the maximum acceleration (G) is 70. The sensor boasts several features, including the Asymmetric Cut-off to adjust the lift-off and landing distances to suit your gaming playstyle. There are up to 26 different granular levels of height adjustment available to choose from. We tested the DeathAdder V3 on our testbed which includes the AMD Ryzen 7700X processor, Lexar 6000 MHz DDR5 memory, ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Hero motherboard, an XFX 1000W PSW, the XFX Radeon 5700XT GPU, and more.

The Smart Tracking feature helps to maintain a consistent lift-off distance, regardless of the type of surface that it’s used on. Then there is Motion Sync, which sends signals at the same intervals your gaming PC extracts for consistent tracking. Users will be able to configure up to five profiles on the onboard memory.

Verdict

The Razer DeathAdder V3 is a great wired gaming mouse for gamers, especially for eSports gaming. The device features an improved and lightweight design as compared to its predecessor models. While the mouse doesn’t feature its own RGB lighting, the DeathAdder V3 is easy and comfortable to use for longer gaming sessions. We are impressed that the mouse weighs only 59g.

The mouse has a total of six programmable buttons. The device houses the Optical Mouse Switches Gen-3 switches with long-lasting clicks, and the sensor used here is the Razer Focus Pro 30K that supports a maximum sensitivity of 30000 DPI. Razer also included several key capabilities to enhance the gaming experience, and this includes Asymmetric Cut-off, Smart Tracking, and Motion Sync.
