Review: BenQ 32-inch MOBIUZ EX3210R 2K 165Hz Curved Gaming Monitor

It’s no surprise that BenQ has some of the best gaming monitors in the market. Among the rising trend of gaming monitors with high refresh rates and more resolution, companies have also started to focus on curved monitors that offer an immersive experience. We get to review the BenQ 32-inch MOBIUZ EX3210R 2K curved gaming monitor, and here are our thoughts about it.

Design

The MOBIUZ EX3210R features a large 31.5-inch VA panel with 2560×1440 as its native resolution. The screen also comes with an anti-glare coating. The main feature of the display is its 1000R curvature that gives an immersive experience as compared to normal flat displays.

Even when a VA panel is used, the display has a good viewing angle when looked at from the sides. Although, the visuals do start to lose out a bit. The power button as well as the directional buttons are located underneath the screen so users can easily reach out for it, BenQ also placed the HDR mode button on the bottom right side of the screen so you can choose the type of HDR mode for different types of content.

The base of the monitor is very similar to other BenQ MOBIUZ monitors. While the edges of the display are in black, the V-shaped base is silver in color with orange accents. The base features a gamer-centric design that gives out a cool and aggressive look.

The rear side of the display features a similar color as the base and is complimented with LED lightings on the rear side in the shape of an “X”.

The monitor offers different positioning adjustments that should suit your preferences. You will be able to tilt the display between -5˚ – 15˚, swivel the screen between 15˚/ 15˚ in left and right directions, and height adjustment up to 100mm. The display also has several connectivity ports on the rear side with a cover for neat and clean cable management. The ports include two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, one USB Type B (Upstream), two USB 3.0 ports (Downstream), and one headphone jack.

BenQ has also included a remote so users will be able to control different functions of the monitor. The sensor is located on the front side.

The dimensions of the monitor (mm) are 488.3-588.3×703.4×269.7 and the weight is 9.7 kg. Without the base, the display weighs 6.8 kg. The monitor also comes with a quick service guide and HDMI/DP cables.

Features

The BenQ 32-inch MOBIUZ EX3210R 2K gaming monitor comes with some impressive features that aid the visual experience for both gamers and casual users. The 2K resolution is complimented with the 1000R curvature for a sharper and more immersive experience during gaming and watching movies.

The native refresh rate of the monitor is a blazing smooth 165Hz at 2K resolution when you use the DisplayPort. However, with an HDMI connection, the refresh rate maxes out at 144Hz at 2K. We played DOOM Eternal at 2K resolution and 165Hz refresh rate and the gaming visuals were stunning with the curved display. The monitor also has support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro V-Sync technology to eliminate all those screen tears.

Adding to the colors is the inclusion of HDR10 and VESA DisplayHDR 400. The monitor has a peak brightness of 300 nits, but with HDRi enabled, the brightness hits 400 nits. However, DisplayHDR 400 isn’t considered high-end by any means, and monitors with 600 nits or higher give out better and brighter HDR visuals.

That said, the monitor has a response time of 1ms (at MSRT) so this helps during online gameplay for fewer lags. The monitor also covers 90% DCI P3 color gamut and the contrast ratio is 2500:1. The monitor also packs a 2.1 channel 2W speaker system and a 5W woofer and DSP with audio enhancements from treVolo for better audio-visual gaming experiences.

The monitor also comes with several Eye-Care features such as the Low Blue Light and Brightness Intelligence Plus (B.I.+) that uses the front-facing sensor to detect the changing levels of surrounding light and color temperatures and automatically adjust the brightness and settings for safer visuals and reduce eye-strains.

Verdict

If you’re planning to invest in a curved 2K monitor that features a high refresh rate and some HDR capabilities, then the 32-inch BenQ MOBIUZ EX3210R  is a good choice to consider. While the HDR capabilities may not be up to the mark, the 1000R curvature of the VA panel gives out an immersive visual experience during gaming and while watching movies.

The monitor also offers a 2.1 channel audio system with a woofer and treVolo enhancements for a good audio-visual experience. The display has multiple ports so you can connect both your PC and next-generation gaming consoles. The display also comes with a remote so users will be able to control the display and use it as a large-screen TV. And the design of the monitor will suit any type of gaming setup.
