The Games of the Future 2026 has confirmed PUBG: Battlegrounds as the official title for its Battle Royale esports discipline, putting up a US$1,000,000 prize pool that marks one of the largest single-discipline purse in GOTF 2026.
The addition of PUBG: Battlegrounds signals a landmark moment for the Games of the Future, as the tournament expands its competitive program to include one of the most played Battle Royale titles in the world. With a professional circuit spanning every major region, PUBG: Battlegrounds brings with it an audience and competitive ecosystem that reaches far beyond traditional esports.
For GOTF 2026, the Battle Royale discipline represents a new dimension of competition at the tournament. Unlike the event’s phygital disciplines, where digital gameplay meets physical sport, Battle Royale places the full weight of competition on the digital side through strategic execution, split-second decision making and team coordination across the entirety of a match.
“PUBG: Battlegrounds has cultivated one of esports’ most fiercely competitive scenes since its release, with a global professional circuit that continues to raise the bar for Battle Royale competition. Bringing that level of competition to the Games of the Future 2026 underscores our commitment to elevating competitive gaming on the global stage. Astana will be where the world’s top Battle Royale talent converges, and we’re proud to give them a platform worthy of their skill.”, said William Al-Badeesh, Publisher Relations & IP Licensing Lead at Phygital International.
PUBG: Battlegrounds, developed and published by KRAFTON, pioneered the Battle Royale genre and remains one of its most enduring titles. Its professional scene, the PUBG Global Series, features teams competing across Asia, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Australia, making it one of the most geographically diverse esports circuits in the world.
“We are thrilled to bring PUBG: Battlegrounds to the Games of the Future 2026. GOTF represents an exciting new stage for our global competitive community, and we look forward to showcasing the world’s best Battle Royale talent in Astana this summer.”, said Suyong Park, Head of Esports Department, KRAFTON.
The Battle Royale discipline, featuring PUBG: Battlegrounds, will be held at Beeline Arena in Astana, a state-of-the-art venue with a capacity of up to 3,000 spectators, from July 31 to August 2. Battle Royale will feature as one of eight thrilling disciplines to be contested at the Games of the Future 2026, running from July 29 to August 9.
The event is set to welcome more than 900 participants from over 50 nationalities to Astana, with attendances expected to exceed 100,000 across venues citywide. Bringing together digital and physical disciplines within a single global competition, the Games of the Future reflects its distinctive phygital format. Collectively, the disciplines underscore the event’s ambition to convene globally recognized game titles, leading publishers and elite athletes on one international stage.
Confirmed teams and participants for the Battle Royale discipline will be announced in the coming weeks.
