The longest running esports and gaming festival in UK, Insomnia Gaming Festival will be coming to Dubai next year as the GAME Esports and Events (GEE) part of the GAME Group, the company behind the event plans to expand the festival beyond UK and become a global brand. The company has chartered a roadmap and after holding the festival in Dubai in 2019, it will take the event to Saudi Arabia, mainland Europe, and Australia.
GEE also signed multi-year agreement with the UAE based Global Event Management Group to successfully run Insomnia event in Dubai. Commenting on the latest development, the CEO for GAME Group, Martyn Gibbs said, “Video games and esports are now a truly global form of entertainment and it seems fitting that we can share our passion for games on a global basis through the Insomnia event series.”
Since its launch in the UK in 1999, the Insomnia Gaming Festival has grown, showcasing the best in all types of gaming. Insomnia Gaming Festival is a great weekend, enabling you to play and catch up with friends or meet new people in the BYOC (bring your own computer) or LAN area and play esports tournaments. The day and weekend visitors can try out the latest games from publishers to indies developers or take themselves back in time and get their hands on some retro games, or experience some of the latest VR games. Throughout the event, you will see characters dressed in some stunning cosplay outfits themed from gaming characters.
“We have been watching the incredible growth in awareness of esports and gaming in the Middle East for some time, and as an events company with over 30 years’ experience in the region, were really keen to enter this market. The team at GAME have given us outstanding insight into the sector as well as solid practical support in planning our Insomnia event. We are also partnering with GAME, and a variety of world leading esports tournament organisers to run a series of major tournaments throughout the region, with the finals taking place at Insomnia Dubai in October 2019. These are very exciting times for Global Event Management Group”, commented James Magee, Founder of Dubai based Global Event Management.
With 2 annual events taking place in the UK, 2018 has been a busy year starting from Easter with Insomnia62 and A Call of Duty World League major championship followed by the August event that welcomed a 50-seater Turn Up and Play PUBG tournament and 2 nights of WWE NXT Wrestling in Birmingham, England.
