It looks like more and more future games will be built with Epic Game’s Unreal Engine 5. And the latest to join the club is the next Tomb Raider game, officially announced by Crystal Dynamics.
Dallas Dickinson, the franchise general manager of Tomb Raider series, confirms that the company has just started the development of the game. He also mentions that their goal is to push the “envelope of fidelity and to deliver the high quality cinematic, action-adventure experience that fans deserve from both Crystal Dynamics and the Tomb Raider franchise.”

While the official word is out about the use of Unreal Engine 5, both Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix did not reveal any sort of details of the game, the storyline, or at least any sort of teaser. The announcement comes right after the news was out that Jeff Ross, the man who lead the Days Gone development at Sony’s Bend Studio, confirmed his new role at Crystal Dynamics as a game director.
The last Tomb Raider game was released in 2018 as the Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and we are excited to see what the upcoming new game will offer in terms of graphics, gameplay, and story.
