Com2uS will be creating a variety of content, such as comics and animations, based on the worldview and background story of Summoners War by collaborating with the Skybound founded by Robert Kirkman who created the Walking Dead series, which started a global trend in the US cable TV drama by reaching No. 1 in ratings.
Through this multi-dimensional IP expansion, Com2uS plans to enrich the worldview of Summoners War to boost and strengthen its global competitiveness. The project will be led by Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, a co-founder and CEO of the Skybound, and Catherine Winder, the CEO of Skybound North and creator of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and The Angry Birds Movie.
The creators mentioned that “Summoners War developers have created a fantastic world full of rich characters and various storytelling opportunities,” and said that they’re “pleased to be a part of this project to expand the universe of Summoners War, which is loved by users of all ages worldwide, so that the game can be developed into various types of content.”
Furthermore, Com2uS has been showing its unlimited potential and solid work through its global mobile game “Summoners War” and its competitiveness as a global brand. The collaboration with Skybound creators is expected to have a strong impact on the global market.
Com2uS said, “The mobile game, Summoners War, was released in 2014 and has accumulated over 80 million downloads worldwide and about $1 billion revenue, so far. Also, the game has already proven its unique value in the global game market,” and said, “We’re going to make a case where Korea’s original content is succeeding as a major IP in Hollywood, the heart of cultural content in the world.”
