Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN F1 Esports gets ready for the new season

Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN F1 Esports will kick off the latest season of the F1 Esports Series today as the virtual racers return to action on Twitch at 20:30 CET.

After finishing second in the Teams’ Championship and claiming the Drivers’ crown with Jarno Opmeer in 2020, Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN F1 Esports enter the season in high spirits and with great expectations. A new line-up, made up of some of the freshest talent in the world of Esports, is ready to fly the team’s colours.

17-year-old Thijmen Schütte is the youngest driver to ever compete in F1 Esports and will be making his debut this season. Starting his driving career at just 14, Schütte is an exciting talent, who will be able to learn from an experienced team-mate in the shape of Simon Weigang, who brings a wealth of experience with two seasons under his belt, hoping to build on his previous success.

Racing alongside Schutte and Weigang is former Ferrari Academy driver Filip Prešnajder. The Slovak put in an impressive qualifying display in Spa last year and is looking to make a name for himself this season.

The 2021 F1 Esports season will be held online, with four events from October 13th to December 16th. In each event, race one and two will be held on a Wednesday, while race three will take place on Thursday. The teams will be competing for a share of an attractive USD750,000 prize pot.‍

The line up for each of the races in event 1 is as follows:
Sakhir, Bahrain (Race 1): Simon Weigang and Thijmen Schütte
Shanghai, China (Race 2): Simon Weigang and Filip Prešnajder
Spielberg, Austria (Race 3): Simon Weigang and Filip Prešnajder
