Sharjah Media City celebrates esports success

Sharjah Media City (Shams) has successfully concluded the “Shams Ramadan” Esports Tournament, held at the Shams Business Centre from March 8 to 14, 2025. The tournament, boasting a generous prize pool of AED 100,000, drew over 700 professional and amateur gamers from across the UAE and beyond to compete in the globally popular “FIFA 25” game.

The event culminated in an exciting final day, with Ali Al Hammadi and Muhannad Al Masmari crowned as champions, followed closely by runners-up Mohammed Ahmed and Mohammed Al Hammadi, and third-place finishers Ahmed Al Suwaidi and Rami Saad.

Alya Ali Al Suwaidi, Director of Content and Innovation at Shams, praised the tournament’s success, emphasizing its significance in nurturing a vibrant gaming community. She highlighted the tournament as part of Shams’ broader mission to bolster esports, promote innovation, and elevate the UAE’s status as a global esports hub. The event attracted widespread media attention, with coverage spanning television, social media, and live streaming on Shams’ YouTube and Twitch platforms, which garnered impressive engagement.

Participants lauded the tournament’s professional organization and the platform it provided for improving their gaming skills while fostering connections within the gaming community. The AED 100,000 prize pool was particularly appreciated, enhancing the tournament’s reputation as one of the region’s premier esports events.
